Anyone who has ever even seen Honolua Bay has to understand the true value of it to our aina and people. For decades we have worked toward keeping the bay clean, pristine and natural. Volunteers have spent their time doing everything possible to keep it that way, and now it seems it was all for nothing. There is no place like this in the world, and it looks like it will be destroyed by development just so a few people can make a few bucks.
I have never considered myself a single-issue voter, but I will absolutely never vote, or vote again, for Mike White, Mike Victorino, Joseph Pontanilla, Gladys Baisa or Danny Mateo. These so-called representatives of Maui who voted to change the preservation status of Lipoa Point/Honolua Bay obviously have chosen instead to represent developers. By casting this vote, they have tipped their hand as to how they would vote on future issues.
