Tearing down to set it up again

October 4, 2012
The Maui News
E.K. Fernandez crewman Kawika Kaolelopono carries a colorful panel to a storage truck while helping tear down the Music Express ride Wednesday afternoon at the War Memorial Complex. Kaolelopono said he has worked the Maui Fair many years, and this was a good year. “We had a safe fair,” he said. “Nobody got hurt. Everybody did their job.” Kaolelopono said his next stop was a carnival at Kapolei on Oahu, and then he would be setting it up and tearing it all down at the Big Island Farm Fair next month in Kona. More than 93,500 people attended the Maui Fair from Sept. 27 through Sunday. The attendance was more than last year, but it fell short of the record of 96,083 set in 2008.
