I totally agree with a Sept. 16 letter writer. Though I believe that everyone has the right to run for office, I feel that Carmen "Hulu" Lindsey gave up that right when she agreed to the terms set in place when Gov. Neil Abercrombie appointed her to the interim seat.
We are brought up in a culture where a person's word is proof of one's character. We are taught from a very young age never make promises you don't intend to keep.
So, the question I am putting to this candidate is: Can you truly say that running for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Maui trustee seat is ethically or morally the right thing to do?
As the Sept. 16 letter so eloquently stated: Where is Lindsey's sense of honor and fairness?
