On Sept. 1, I attended the grand opening of the newly renovated ILWU Hall on Lanai. As I was going through the food line, Don Guzman was there and seemed like he was showing to the voters that he was helping the food servers. I was wearing an Alan Fukuyama T-shirt and when Guzman saw me he said: "Do not give food to this lady." Guzman was referring to me.
On Sept. 2, I attended the welcome party for the vice mayor of Cabugao, Philippines, at the Lahaina Civic Center. Guzman was there. When he was going around campaigning in that party and as he approached me, I told him that I didn't like what he did to me on Lanai. He yelled at me and went to Fukuyama, pushed him and I heard him tell Fukuyama to control his people.
I think that Guzman should be the one to control his behavior in public and also control his tongue. These incidents validate the fact that Guzman has no class, is arrogant, ill-mannered and rude. He is disrespectful, especially to senior citizens like me. In my opinion, he can't be trusted and I would not trust him to serve on the County Council. There's a big difference between having an education and being humane.
