The County of Maui Volunteer Center has awarded Rhonda Barut of Makawao the September Volunteer Hero award in recognition of her work with the American Heart Association's Maui Local Chapter and the County of Maui Volunteer Center.
Barut is credited with creating two new events for the Maui Go Red For Women Ambassadors, introducing a photo contest and helping to establish a website. At the Volunteer Center, she launched a Facebook and Twitter account and helped improve the agency's www.handsonmaui.com website.
"Rhonda motivates me and many more to do more, to be more, to care more for our families, friends and community," said Regional Director of American Heart Association's Maui chapter Kauwela Bisquere, who nominated Barut.
