Police have arrested four people in connection with the robbery of a Lahaina man who was attacked and had his bag stolen Friday near Mala Wharf, police said.
The robbery was called in at 7:20 p.m. when the victim reported being assaulted by a man he knows, said Lt. Chad Viela of the Lahaina Criminal Investigation Division. In the victim's bag were his wallet containing $160 in cash, gift certificates from a local restaurant and a debit card, Viela said.
No weapons were used during the assault, and the victim refused treatment for injuries including pain to his face, Viela said.
An all-points bulletin led to the arrest Saturday morning in Kihei of Lahaina residents Jayson Auld, 22, and Amber Gonnelly, 19, Viela said. Both were charged with second-degree robbery, with bail set at $20,000 each. Police impounded the vehicle, which Gonnelly had been driving and which Auld and others left in following the robbery, Viela said.
He said a 47-year-old man arrested later Saturday was released pending further investigation.
On Monday morning, police arrested a fourth suspect, Keola Chung-Dyson, 36, of Lahaina. He was charged with second-degree robbery, with his bail set at $20,000.
An investigation is continuing, Viela said.
