Is President Barack Obama really standing up for the middle class?
Have the living standards of the middle class improved in the past four years? Obama said recently at a campaign rally, "I'm here to fight for you and for all Americans in the middle class."
Really? Is that true?
On the same day, the Labor Department reported that since Obama was inaugurated, middle-class household income has dropped approximately $3,000 a year, or 8.2 percent.
In addition, cumulative inflation is 11 percent, which means the American middle class has witnessed the largest drop of spending power and income since Herbert Hoover was president. Obama is attempting to pull off a bait and switch by claiming he is for something when his policies are against it.
Lucky for the Canadians, Stephen Harper did not listen to the same economic advisers Obama did. Canadian middle-class income, since Obama was inaugurated, has gone up, including adjustment for inflation. Mitt Romney advocates the same policies and they will work here.
