Martial arts tourney scheduled for Nov. 3
The sixth annual Filipino Martial Arts Maui Open is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa in Lahaina.
The registration fee is $30 for one event, and $10 for each additional event. Com-petition will be offered in padded-stick fighting, empty-hand kumite, submission grappling and multiple forms divisions, and is open to all ages in all styles and schools.
Spectator admission will cost $5, with no cost for youths 7 and under.

Table tennis club offers events at multiple sites
Maui Table Tennis Club will resume play from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at the Lahaina Civic Center on Jan. 8, and also offers events from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays at the Eddie Tam Complex in Makawao, and from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays at the Kahului Community Center.
The club accepts players of all ages and skills, and provides all equipment. Free instruction will be offered to beginners.

Races upcoming at Paradise Speedway
Paradise Speedway Maui in Puunene will host a demolition derby on Nov. 10, and two events on Dec. 9 - a mud-bog race and a rock crawl.
For the derby, gates will open at 3:30 p.m., time trials will start at 6 p.m. and the race is to begin at 8 p.m.
The mud-bog race will begin at 9 a.m., and the rock crawl will follow. Registration can be completed by calling 357-1435. Drivers do not have to be speedway members to register.
On each day, spectator admission will be $10 for anyone 13 and over, $2 for youths 6-12 and free for youths 5 and under.
