Vets group endorses Gabbard
Democrat Tulsi Gabbard has received an endorsement in her bid for the 2nd Congressional District seat from the Veterans & Military Families for Progress Group, according to an announcement.
The group is dedicated to ensuring that the rights and needs of veterans, active-duty service members (including National Guard troops and reservists) and their families are understood by the American public, endorsed by elected officials and protected by legislation, regulation and public policy initiatives.
Gabbard, a captain in the Hawaii National Guard, chose to leave elected office to serve in the Middle East with her 29th Brigade Unit, the group noted.
"Tulsi Gabbard has been and will continue to be a strong supporter of our nation's veterans and active armed forces," the announcement said.
Gabbard faces Republican Kawika Crowley in the Nov. 6 general election for the House seat that serves Neighbor Islands and rural Oahu.
