Taking shot at protection from flu

October 14, 2012
The Maui News
With her husband, Mayor Alan Arakawa, looking on, Ann Arakawa gets a flu shot from Safeway Regional Pharmacy Manager Alanna Isobe on Friday morning at the Kahului Safeway. “I think it’s important to protect myself from getting the flu,” Ann Arakawa said. “I didn’t feel much pain. It doesn’t hurt at all.” Isobe said customers are welcome to walk in without an appointment to get a flu shot, as well as a shingles shot. She said the fee depends on what type of insurance people have. She said many insurances pick up the entire cost. Without insurance, a flu shot costs $30 at Safeway.
