I have concerns about the new type of hand dryer I am seeing in some restroom facilities in Kahului.
Both Costco and the Maui Mall have installed these dryers, which boast a bladelike wind to dry hands more efficiently. I invite you to listen to the noise they create and then decide if that can possibly be healthy on the ears.
I damaged my hearing many years ago from too much noise. My concerns are that damage to the hearing of our youth may happen and not manifest for some years down the road.
I know that the Occupational Safety & Health Administration used to have people who came around and tested the decibel levels. Is that still done? I believe these should be tested.
