Gabriel Medina of Brazil rides a wave en route to winning his RipCurl Pro first-round heat Saturday in Portugal. All first-round winners moved to the third round. Dusty Payne of Lahaina was third in his opening heat, but won in the second round to stay in contention at the Association of Surfing Professionals world tour event.
