U.S. and Hawaii flags to be flown at half-staff
U.S. and Hawaii flags will be flown at half-staff at state offices and agencies and the Hawaii National Guard today in memory of former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter.
The former Pennsylvania senator died Sunday at age 82.
The flags are to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.

Planning meeting for BHS' 75th slated today
A meeting to plan Baldwin High School's 75th anniversary will be held at 5 p.m. today in the school's new library.
The 75th anniversary festivities will be held next October.
Alumni, staff and others interested in helping plan anniversary events are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Charter amendments topic of Akaku TV show
The 11 Maui County Charter amendments that will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot will be the focus of a new show debuting tonight on Akaku: Maui Community Television.
Maui County Council Member Don Couch is hosting the live, call-in show called "On the Couch with Don Couch."
The episode will be televised at 7 p.m. today on cable Channel 52.
Scheduled guests include Dave DeLeon, a member of the Charter Commission, and Lyn McNeff, chief operating officer of Maui Economic Opportunity Inc.

Rotary speaker to be info specialist for KIRC
Kaho'olawe Island Reserve Commission's public information specialist Daniela Maldini will speak Wednesday morning during a meeting of the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise.
The event will be held at 7:30 a.m. at the Five Palms Restaurant at the Mana Kai Maui Resort in Kihei.
Maldini is expected to address the commission's restoration projects and other activities.
Breakfast costs $22. The event is open to the public.
