Kahana Canoe Club awards three academic scholarships

Kahana Canoe Club recently awarded scholarships to Ariel Kahahane, a sophomore at University of Hawaii at Hilo, and Cierra Kahahane, a freshman at UH-Manoa.

Each received a $1,000 scholarship. Both are Kamehameha Maui graduates.

Jema Lung Gat, a student in the Culinary Arts program at UH-Maui College and a Lahainaluna High School graduate, received a $500 scholarship.

"I am so very proud that we are a club that values its keiki and cares about their future," said Kahana Canoe Club Vice President John Kuia. "We have given thousands of dollars in scholarships annually since 2005. We paddle forward together as one ohana."
