I want to be clear to the people of the South Maui that all of my campaign spending and contribution records are transparent, above-board and publicly available online.
As a first-time candidate, I have been working with the Campaign Spending Commission guiding me every step of the way to ensure accurate campaign reporting. Both complaints from the Republican Party have caught not only me but the Campaign Spending Commission (which will be hearing the complaint) off guard.
I invite the public to take a look on the Campaign Spending Commission's website. All my contributions, loans and expenditures are listed accurately and timely, and it is clear that neither of the complaints holds any substance and will not be upheld by the commission.
People vote not only on issues but on character, as well. I believe that the Republican Party had this in mind when sending out these two press releases. The complaints were tactically timed in a manner that will make negative headlines, cost crucial campaign time for response and will not be heard before the election to clear by name.
However, I have full trust in the people of South Maui - the majority of whom I have already met- that you will be able to see through these clever tactics and make your own judgment of my character based on my background, experience, record and who I am, as a young person trying to make a difference.
Let's keep up the aloha spirit through Nov. 6.
