So now one of our legions of homeless people snapped and attacked an innocent passer-by at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center (The Maui News, Oct. 14). I wonder what the the Maui Police Department is doing to establish who these people are.
Let's start with the guy in Kihei who shambles through town, covered in grime, muttering and mumbling. The library dwellers, snoring and belching away the day in our libraries. The clearly dazed, drunk and confused lords of the pavilions at our beach parks.
I remember, back in the 1970s, being hassled mercilessly just for having long hair. Now it's fine to swagger through town at 8 in the morning, drunk as a loon, expose yourself at parks and snore away in the library.
Not hurting anyone? Maybe when MPD is finished adjusting car seats they can confront some of these unfortunate souls. C'mon, MPD. Get out of your cars.
