Warriors get past Sabers in four sets

PUKALANI - Eight-time defending Maui Interscholastic League Division I girls volleyball champion Kamehameha Schools Maui dropped a set, but still moved within one win of its ninth straight title on Tuesday.

The Warriors beat Maui High 25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20 at King Kekaulike Gym in the semifinals of the MIL D-I tournament.

Kamehameha Maui (13-0) will meet Baldwin (7-6) - the only team to beat the Warriors in their last 69 league matches - on Friday in the tournament final at 6:30 p.m. at Kaulaheanuiokamoku Gym.

Sienna Davis led Kamehameha with 16 kills, Anuhea Kaiaokamalie had 14 kills, and Emma Yen smacked six aces.

Mele Enomoto had 19 assists and seven digs for the Sabers, Kuulei Wasserman had 10 digs, seven kills and two blocks, Sulieti Hifo had eight digs and five kills, Christina Lotulelei had three aces and three blocks, Michelle Weckworth had three blocks, and Keahu Dennis had five assists.

Maui High's season ends at 6-8.
