First photo: William Jacintho, University of Hawaii Maui College Agriculture and Natural Resources educational and academic support specialist, helps Kahului Elementary School 1st-grader Jimison Jemwai, 6, inspect a pumpkin at the college's garden Thursday. UH-Maui College's agriculture department is scheduled to sell pumpkins to the public 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, during its annual "Pumpkin Patch" fundraiser.

Second photo: The Kahului Elementary School class taught by Wendy Shishido was one of several to visit the UH-MC pumpkin patch and to take part in educational demonstrations about subjects including bees, fruit flies, soil, composting and planting. William Jacintho also shared some farm humor with the youths, leaning on a scale to turn a 14-pound pumpkin into a 70-pounder.
