Linda Lingle is absolutely and completely out of touch with reality. Her own campaign channel? Most of us can't change the channel or hit mute fast enough when political ads come on. Unfortunately, I voted for her twice. That won't happen a third time and here's why:
The Superferry fiasco. For or against it, we would now be sailing interisland if Lingle had completed the environmental impact statement required by state law. The auditor says harbor improvements will reach $63 million.
Then she kept students out of school for 17 Fridays and cut teachers' pay by 8 percent. A private business gets $63 million and kids get kicked out of school and teachers take a financial kick in the butt?
Vetoed the HI-5 recycling bill? It took another year to get implemented, millions of bottles and cans got landfilled.
Lingle allowed the anti-civil unions bill to pass, she didn't sign it and didn't veto it, the bill become law by default. Lingle said, "Same gender marriage is essentially marriage by another name." But she did veto a bill requiring hospitals to provide emergency contraception to rape victims, citing hospitals with religious objections.
Bipartisan? She skipped the governors' meeting in 2008 because she was embarrassed to show. She had dissed Barack Obama while touring with Sarah Palin. At a time when Republicans and Democrats need to come together on a myriad issues, anybody thinking Linda is bipartisan must be as out of touch with reality as she.
