Librarian to share skills learned at conference

October 28, 2012
The Maui News

Seabury Hall librarian Linda Lindsay was selected as one of 59 participants from across the country to attend Google Teacher 2012 Academy on Oct. 3 and 4 in New York City.

Participants received hands-on experience with Google's free products and other technologies, learned about innovative instructional strategies, received resources to share with colleagues and immersed themselves in an innovative corporate environment, according to a release. Upon completion, participants become Google-certified teachers who may share what they learn with other K-12 educators in their local regions. Part of the experience is intended to create a yearlong action plan.

One of the projects introduced at the academy that Lindsay would like to promote is the Somebody's Hero Project, which celebrates unsung heroes in our community. Students create projects and presentations for their schools and local communities as well as to be displayed in a permanent collection online.

For more information, visit www.somebodyshero.org. Lindsay is willing to assist any Hawaii teacher interested in participating in the project.

For more information, call Lindsay at 572-9227 or email llindsay@seaburyhall.org.
