Though I reside in West Maui, I believe that what happens in the other parts of the island affects all of us. With this in mind, I am compelled to write this letter on behalf of Rep. George Fontaine.
I've known Fontaine since he was a captain in the Maui Police Department, while serving as a police commissioner. Fontaine and I were also club presidents in our respective Rotary clubs in 2003. A few years later, Fontaine became the district governor of Rotary District 5000, the first and only district governor from Maui who led 48 Rotary clubs in the entire state.
Rotary's motto is "Service Above Self," and I believe that Fontaine embodies this motto. He is a credible gentleman and I believe that he is the right person to serve as state representative for South Maui.
I have seen Fontaine work and I know he gets things done and will always be doing his best and will work tirelessly to do what is best for the people of South Maui.
