Move to OHA natural progression for Rose Duey

October 29, 2012
The Maui News

I support Rose Duey. She was born and raised in Lahaina and spent her whole life on Maui except for the two years that she spent in the United States Army, which she is very proud of.

She has more than 33 years working in and for the Hawaiian community. I'm sure some of you know of her work.

She knows the issues and knows the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. She has a full-time job at Alu Like, but finds time to work in our taro patch, serve as the executive director of Olowalu Cultural Reserve and work on our noni farm, among other things.

She gets in the mud, but she is equally at ease serving on boards and commissions as she has done in the past and is still doing to this day. She is a people person and is always there to help others.

Her move from Alu Like to OHA would be a natural progression and she would hit the ground running, no need for on-the-job training.

I ask for your vote for my wife on Nov. 6.

John V. Duey
