My wife and I have been coming to Maui for more than 20 years and have loved our time there. As we became regular visitors, we heard some negative things regarding any emergency health care provided at Maui Memorial Medical Center.
We had never had to seek services until I had a heart attack onboard a Hawaiian Airlines flight on Sept. 23. The crew and some passengers kept me alive for the remainder of the flight.
I woke up at Maui Memorial Medical Center. The negative perception that I had was completely erased. The care I received in the intensive care unit and then the cardiology unit was efficient, caring and friendly. I had the sense that they were not just doing their job but that they actually cared.
I had traveled alone and they kept my wife fully informed until she was able to join me.
While I hope to never have to visit them again as I did, I will have no hesitation.
Thank you, Maui Memorial Medical Center staff.
