Walk-in voting concludes today

November 3, 2012
The Maui News

Today is the last day for walk-in voting before Tuesday's general election.

And the only location available for voters in the county is at the Maui County Clerk's Office on the seventh floor of the Kalana O Maui building in Wailuku. The office opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m.

The county building's second-floor lobby door will be closed today. So, voters will need to enter via the ground-floor elevator, according to office staff.

As of the end of the business day Friday, 3,622 people, including Molokai residents, had voted via walk-in voting, office staff said. The tally did not count voters Friday, when there was a steady stream of people walking in to vote at the County Clerk's Office. Some waited outside the office door for their turn to vote.

Friday was the last day for walk-in voting on Molokai. Lanai does not have walk-in voting on island.

There are 86,053 people registered to vote in the general election in Maui County.
