Another warning to the people of Maui has passed. It is time for us to review our emergency plan.
Buy flashlights with rechargeable batteries.
Buy two to four collapsible water containers. If you evacuate to higher ground, take along the following: trash bags, toilet paper, first-aid kit, medicines, water and food.
Always leave your gas tank at at least half full. Leave the booze at home for celebrations after the disaster has passed.
Look at evacuation plans now to see if you even need to go to higher ground.
Now is the time to introduce yourselves to your neighbors, combine your forces to have a plan, get the kids involved to keep them busy during the event.
If you really want to help, join the Community Emergency Response Team or become a Red Cross volunteer.
