Saturday and Dec. 9-Paradise Speedway Maui in Puunene will host a demolition derby on Saturday, and two events on Dec. 9 - a mud-bog race and a rock crawl. For the derby, gates will open at 3:30 p.m., time trials will start at 6 p.m. and the race is to begin at 8 p.m. The mud-bog race will begin at 9 a.m., and the rock crawl will follow. Jan. 5-The Ko'ie'ie Fishpond 5K Fun Run and Kids Mile are scheduled for 8 a.m. on Jan. 5 at the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary in Kihei. Proceeds will benefit the fishpond.
