Choosing candidates seen as popularity contest

November 5, 2012
The Maui News

How do we the people choose our candidates for office? If you have to think about this, well, I'll tell you how most of the people vote. They don't follow their candidate's forum but popularity.

Come on, now, we don't even know what platform they are running on, we just look at who has the most signs, best-looking sign and, most of all, popularity (whose name do you hear the most?).

Funny how people vote here. Non-English-speaking people voting?

Duh. When was the last rally anyone went to? So how do you know why they are running? Money or actually caring for people?
