Turtles do harm to the coral reefs over time

November 6, 2012
The Maui News

I like turtles, but everyone on the save the turtles bandwagon needs to do a little more research. It has been proved over time that turtles destroy the reefs they frequent by scratching their carapaces and sitting directly on coral. There are more turtles now than ever. I can't go on a dive without seeing at least three.

While beautiful and serene, I prefer a beautiful aquarium with lots of biodiversity over a swimming pool of dead fish and no coral, with lots of turtles.
