The National Weather Service has continued a high surf advisory for east-facing shores of Maui and Molokai through 6 a.m. Wednesday.
A high surf advisory for north facing shores was canceled.
The advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion. Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water and away from the shorebreak due to hazardous wave action.
Surf heights of 6 to 8 feet are expected along east-facing shores.
