Aloha is alive and well on Maui.
I appreciate the generosity and kindness extended to me during the tsunami evacuation (The Maui News, Oct. 28) in Lahaina. I had planned a long weekend on Maui but did not expect on my first night to be evacuated from my condo rental to higher ground.
The families on Niheu Street offered me hot chocolate, water and various other beverages throughout the night. Their hospitality to strangers was heartwarming.
My sincere gratitude for their compassion made an unpleasant situation an enjoyable event. Wishing them much aloha.
