It is not OK to burn for profit margin. Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. posted large profits the past few years if I'm not mistaken.
It is not OK to burn miles of chemical-laden PVC drip lines then till them it into the earth. That's not good for the aina. Go look beside any field, you'll find burned plastic sticking out of the dirt.
If HC&S stopped burning, it would not shutter the mill. The company no-burn cuts as it is on occasion, proving it can do it. And doing it more would create jobs, not cost jobs.
The sky is not falling, change does not mean the end. Adapt. The world does not need more burned into the atmosphere.
