The Ka'anapali Beach Hotel awarded $14,000 in cash and prizes to winners of the 22nd Hula O Na Keiki Competition that was held over the weekend.
The hotel said 15 participants aged 5 to 17 competed in kahiko (ancient) and auana (modern) hula styles.
Dancers were judged on their style of chanting, interpretation of the dances and cultural appropriateness of costumes and adornments. Contestants also were scored on interviews with a panel of judges.

Corrie-Lynn Ku‘uipo Okalani Montalvo, 16, of Halau Kekuaokala‘au‘ala‘iliahi won the Overall Wahine Award during this weekend’s 22nd Hula O Na Keiki Competition at the Ka‘anapali Beach Hotel. She studies under kumu hula ‘Iliahi and Haunani Paredes.
Hula O Na Keiki was established by the staff of Ka'anapali Beach Hotel in 1990. Hotel employees and community members volunteer their time for the event, which promotes awareness and perpetuates Hawaiian culture through music and dance.
