Anyone with a lick of common sense could reason that Maui does not need a mall the size of Ala Moana Center. Maui's population is one-ninth of Oahu's.
Will Spence does not strike me as credible planning director. Several months ago, I sat in on a hearing where he recommended that his church and surrounding land be rezoned from agriculture to rural. The council approved the change. The decision smacked of special interest. Just like his testimony (The Maui News, Nov. 16).
We need a planning director who has the best interest of Maui at heart and not special interest groups from the Mainland.
