Eighth-grade parent night set in Lahaina

Lahainaluna High School will have an information night for parents of the incoming freshman class of 2017 at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Hale Pa'ina, the new cafeteria on the high school campus.

Parents of current 8th-graders at Lahaina Intermediate and Sacred Hearts schools are encouraged to attend. The meeting will assist parents in understanding the school's curriculum and program offerings and assist in the planning of the child's class schedule for the 2013-2014 school year. Topics to be covered include school policies and expectations, graduation requirements, as well as course requirements and course offerings.

Staff representatives from various departments will share highlights about their curriculums. Registration materials are scheduled to be distributed to 8th-graders at Lahaina Intermediate and Sacred Hearts schools prior to the parent meeting.

Chun to address Rotary Club of Maui

Grant Chun, vice president of A&B Properties, will speak at the Nov. 29 meeting of the Rotary Club of Maui.

Chun will discuss A&B Properties operations, plans and projects.

The Rotary Club of Maui meets at noon on Thursdays at the Class Act Restaurant at the University of Hawaii Maui College. The cost is $20. The public is welcome.

Workshop looks at workplace conflict

A free workshop "Got Conflict? How to work with a conflict management professional to bring peace to your workplace" will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Maui County Business Resource Center in Maui Mall.

Sunny Gutierrez will facilitate the workshop sponsored by the Maui County Business Resource Center and Common Ground Mediation Services LLC.

Managers, business owners, human resource personnel and others who are interested are invited to attend. To reserve a space, call 873-8247.

Schools recognized for improvements

Makawao and Princess Nahi'ena'ena elementary schools received the Continuous Improvement Award on Nov. 8 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort on Oahu.

The award is given to schools that achieve a 5 percent growth each year for five consecutive years in both reading and mathematics on the Hawaii State Assessments.

BHS Class of '67 planning reunion

The Baldwin High School Class of 1967 will hold its 45-year reunion Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

UFO Parasail donates $860

UFO Parasail Maui recently donated $860 to the Maui Food Bank. Funds were raised during the inaugural Ka'anapali Fresh event held Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

UFO Parasail Maui made a $10 donation for each person who mentioned Ka'anapali Fresh when making a reservation during the three days of the event.
