Kamehameha Schools Kapalama athletic director Blane Gaison has been selected as the next AD at Kamehameha Maui.
The announcement was made Wednesday by Maui campus vice principal Lance Cagasan.
"I'm humbled and honored for the opportunity to continue to serve our Hawaiian youth on the KS Maui campus," Gaison said.

Gaison, a 1976 graduate of Kamehameha Kapalama, had been that school's AD since 2006. The former NFL player - he spent four years with the Atlanta Falcons, from 1981 to 1984 - was the football coach from 1989 until 1996, while also serving as the associate athletic director. He ended his coaching career in 1996, when he was promoted to co-athletic director.
"After all these years, it'll be difficult leaving Kapalama," Gaison said. "But I'm excited about the opportunity to build new relationships on the Maui campus."
Gaison won a National Federation of High Schools Citation Award in 2006, and a National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Distinguished Service Award the following year. He is Hawaii's delegate to both organizations.
"Blane is an outstanding and seasoned administrator, educator and role model for our KS Maui student athletes," Cagasan said.
"In addition, his experience with various athletic associations can only help to enhance what is already done at the league level. We are certainly grateful and humbled to have him join our Maui team."
Gaison played football at the University of Hawaii after lettering in football, basketball, baseball and track and field in high school.
He is succeeding Kurt Ginoza, who had been the Kamehameha Maui AD since the school's formation 10 years ago before stepping down in September.
