Here we go again.
From Bill O'Reilly (Opinion, Nov. 11): "Mr. President: You must be tired. Please take some time off. . . . Fail, and all hell will break loose." Snarky vindictiveness?
A Nov. 12 letter headline stated, "Obama far from having support of the majority." Factual/accurate?
Then, there's a Nov. 15 letter stating we elected Barack Hussein Obama, "a very flawed charlatan." Anger/hate?
Let's face it. The Republican Party and its super PACs coulda, woulda, shoulda won. Its jockey, the Tea Party, perhaps needs replacing; some educating for sure.
Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Donald Trump and a chorus of other "experts" were spot on predicting: The race is not even close. 330-plus electoral votes for the winner. 200-plus votes for the loser. Their preciseness was uncanny. Alas, the name of the winner was mitt-stakenly mitt-spelled.
The financial challenges ahead are beyond grasp/comprehension for too many. The strident, ignorant voices and defeatist actions of extremists - left and right - could seal our demise. "Left-wing glee or right-wing dread'" (Jonah Goldberg, Nov. 17) ought to be dismissed outright. As Americans, first and foremost, we must unite. We can do it. We have the means. Do we have the will?
Together let's put an end to this lingering, ugly uncivil war.
