I have always supported a equitable tax among all U.S. citizens and have various ideas to get there, however I do not trust the government to use it wisely. Once I am taxed, I have no control on how it will be used. Who is to say that they will not keep crying wolf every time a cliff nears? They do it all the time.
I also favor bigger tax credits for giving and conservation. Why do we always have to consume to grow? It's evil if capitalism means not having enough.
Taxing more is not freedom, giving more to benefit others is.
