Grossman places 61st at West Regional
Seabury Hall junior Dakota Grossman placed 61st in the Foot Locker West Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.
Grossman, winner of the last three state championships, had a time of 20 minutes, 5 seconds on the 5-kilometer course.

Marissa Williams of Palisades (Calif.) Charter High School won in 17:46, and Julia Maxwell of Branson (Calif.) was the runner-up, 29 seconds behind. The top 10 finishers advanced to the national finals, scheduled for this Saturday in San Diego.

Aquinde aces third hole at Elleair
Russell Aquinde of Kahului recorded a hole-in-one Saturday at Elleair Maui Golf Club.
Aquinde aced the third hole, using a 9-iron for the 132-yard shot, which was witnessed by Eli Mailou, Kalani Hueu, Paul Kaina and Stan Lonzaga.

Parking volunteers needed for PGA event
The J. Walter Cameron Center is seeking volunteers for the PGA Tour's Hyundai Tournament of Champions to assist Jan. 6-7 with the public parking lot at Honua Kai Resort in Lahaina.

Hope On Wheels races on Jan. 5
The Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 5 at Whalers Village in Kaanapali.
Registration can be completed at hyundairun4hope.org. The entry fee is $10 for youths 12 and under, and $35 for all others. The fee will also pay for a T-shirt, food and refreshments after the race and a finisher's medal. Proceeds will benefit cancer patients at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
