High-intensity headlights can blind other drivers

December 5, 2012
The Maui News

My Nov. 29 letter was edited incorrectly. The part about hidden headlights was supposed to say high-intensity discharge headlights, which even on a stock height vehicle are blinding to all other drivers. For those who don't know what these are, they are incredibly bright lights that often appear to be blue, purple or pink.

As for this campaign against lifted trucks, I grew up here and, despite my name, I am part Hawaiian. Like many who drive lifted trucks, I enjoy recreational activities such as hunting, fishing, etc. Oftentimes the best places for these activities are away from paved roads and require having a lifted truck.
