Teacher turns 100

December 5, 2012
The Maui News

Ruth Harrison Lewis, a Roselani Place resident, celebrated her 100th birthday on Oct. 23.

A teacher in Pittsburgh public schools for 40 years, she married her high school sweetheart, Stephen Lewis, and raised three children during their 60-year marriage. Her mother emigrated from England and her father was a direct descendant of two U.S. presidents.

Ruth Lewis loves swimming, which she kept up at Kalama Heights Retirement Center in Kihei, where she lived for six years before moving to Roselani Place. She spent her birthday with friends at Roselani Place and by the beach with family enjoying the sun and a piece of her favorite pineapple upside- down cake.
