Skate park closed for repairs
Repair work will keep the Kihei Skate Park closed until Thursday, said the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Crews began work Monday.

Benefit set to feature Makana
Slack key artist Makana will perform Saturday evening at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa during a benefit for the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation and the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
Makana's song "Deep in an Ancient Hawaiian Forest" was featured in the Academy Award-winning movie "The Descendants." The foundation will hold a silent auction with items including hotel accommodations, Mainland vacations and restaurant meals.
The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., with general admission costing $45 per person and VIP tables of 10 for $1,500. Those at VIP tables get food from an appetizer bar, one bottle of champagne for the table and a Makana CD per person. Special hotel room rates also are available.

Wailuku gas continues decline
The average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Wailuku this week was $4.14 a gallon, a nickel less than last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch on Thursday.
That price was 27 cents less than last month and 24 cents lower than last year.
Retail gas prices declined again over the past week throughout Hawaii. The statewide average for regular unleaded declined by 2 cents during the week to $4.03 per gallon.
Honolulu's average price dropped to $3.95 a gallon for regular unleaded, 3 cents less than last week. In Hilo, the average gas price was $4.02 a gallon, up 3 cents from last week.
