Vessel resting its sails

December 9, 2012
The Maui News
The sun rises over Haleakala as a sailboat rests anchored in windless Maalaea Bay on Friday morning. Today, southeast winds are expected to blow 10 to 15 mph, with mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers mainly in the afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. Highs should range from 78 to 83 degrees, with overnight lows of 68 to 73. Forecasters predict that from Monday through Thursday windward and mauka areas will get partly to mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers. Leeward areas should get isolated showers in the afternoon and evening. Trade winds should return, blowing 15 to 20 mph.
