Keeping a watchful eye on school kids

December 11, 2012
The Maui News
Kahului Elementary School crossing guard Mary Kuamoo keeps a wary eye on traffic one afternoon last week as she allows children to cross Hina Avenue. “My first priority is the kids,” she said. “I don’t care about the cars because a lot of people speed here. They’re on their cellphones. It’s very dangerous. I almost got hit here three times already, but somebody has to be out here.” While picking up her boys that day, mom Toni Matsunobu said she appreciates Kuamoo’s work. “She does a great job,” Matsunobu said. “She always watches for the kids.”
