Panels to provide shade, electricity

Workers install photovoltaic panels in three large structures over the Kihei Community Center parking lot Thursday afternoon as work nears an end at the 100-kilowatt, 540-panel project that will provide electricity to the Kihei Aquatic Center. The project is one of four large-scale photovoltaic installations under construction for Maui County. An additional benefit of the structures built over the parking lot is they will provide shade, as well as electricity in Kihei.
