Almost all top Kaanapali restaurants dish up incredible views of the ocean and the neighbor islands of Lanai and Molokai.
Now several resort properties are taking it a step further by offering private dining closer to the beach and set apart from other restaurants.
For instance, the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa invites you to celebrate romance at Hale Pilialoha with its signature "Dinner Under the Stars."

Tucked away on a lawn area at the base of legendary Black Rock, Hale translates from Hawaiian into "home" and Pilialoha turns into "loving relationship and beloved companionship." The words ensure it'll be a setting for an evening to be remembered.
Sheraton Maui's Executive Chef Greg Gaspar creates the inspiring multi-course menus. You may also opt for tropical cocktails, wines from the extensive cellar, or non-alcoholic beverages.
"Savor an elegant multi-course dinner, feel the warmth of a Kaanapali sunset, and enjoy the glowing tiki torches lighting your beloved's smile," says Gaspar. "Meet with our culinary team in advance of your dinner to discuss menu selections. Enjoy the services of a personal butler, so every moment is memorable."
Those looking to pop the question, celebrate a wedding anniversary or an intimate honeymoon repast will fall in love with the location.
"Dinner Under the Stars" can accommodate two to four guests. For reservations, menu options, or more information, call 662-8053 or visit www.sheraton-maui.com/dining/specials/diningunderstars.
The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa at the other end of Kaanapali Beach from the Sheraton is introducing its Home For the Holidays oceanside dining.
"Feel at home for the holidays with an exquisite holiday meal served oceanside, in your own private cabana," says the resort's Justin Leftwich, who manages this program and in-room dining.
"Our award-winning chefs will thoughtfully prepare your holiday dinner, using only the freshest seasonal ingredients and traditional holiday flavors.
"All there is to do is enjoy the food, the company, and the beautiful Pacific Ocean."
The Hyatt's new Home for the Holidays experience can accommodate any size group, whether it's a romantic dinner for two, or a family feast.
The sample holiday menu that's available through Jan. 3 begins with shrimp cocktail or a champagne toast, followed by butternut squash soup paired with chardonnay. The other courses are Upcountry greens, lilikoi sorbet intermezzo, and roasted turkey entree. Bring enough people and the whole bird will be brought to the table and carved. Accompaniments and desserts top it off. Call 661-1234.
