Kamaole II used to be a very nice beach park for families and tourists.
Now the homeless have staked out the southern end of the park by the last table and BBQ. This blight has got to be a really great image for tourists. The park is looking like an inner city park with homeless and derelicts.
I am surprised that the two condominium associations across the street have not voiced complaints to the County Council.
Here's my solution:
* Start checking for warrants on this group of vagrants.
* Arrest and issue fines for those who bring shopping carts to the park (or elsewhere in Kihei).
* Start enforcing littering and other local laws (liquor, drug usage, etc).
* Make Kamaole II beach park a "no alcohol usage" park.
Take back our park.
