The National Weather Service has continued a high-surf advisory for the east-facing shores of Maui and Molokai through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Very rough surf with heights of 6 to 9 feet is expected through Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service reported. Surf heights are estimates of the faces, or fronts, of waves.
People are urged to stay out of the water and away from the shore break due to hazardous wave action and strong rip currents.
