Wind advisory in effect until 6 p.m.

December 17, 2012
The Maui News

A wind advisory has been issued for Maui, Lanai and Kahoolawe through 6 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory means that winds of 30 mph with gusts of 50 mph are expected.

A strong high pressure north of the state will build through today. Strong and gusty trade winds were occurring across the Haleakala summit on Sunday and are expected to develop over other portions of Maui County, the weather service said.

The high winds can make driving difficult especially for high-profile vehicles. Loose objects should be secured.
