Starting Friday, two columns will be alternating weeks on Page A3, replacing the late Ed Tanji's column "Haku Mo'olelo."
Former Maui News reporter Ilima Loomis will be writing "Neighbors," profiles of Maui County residents - both newsmakers and less high-profile residents with interesting lives and stories. Her inaugural column will appear Friday.

The other Friday column, to debut Dec. 28, will be written by Ben Lowenthal, a trial and appellate lawyer who grew up on Maui. In "The State of Aloha," Lowenthal will offer his take on Maui life, issues, trends, history, culture and more.
