December 20, 2012
The Associated Press

HONOLULU (AP) - The Coast Guard has announced that it will be enforcing a security zone in Kailua Bay beginning as early as Friday morning in anticipation of President Barack Obama's holiday visit to Hawaii.

The president was born in Honolulu and likes to spend the holidays in the place where he grew up. The security zone includes a portion of Kailua Bay, beginning at Kapoho Point and extending westward to the shoreline near Kailuana Loop. The zone also includes the adjacent canal.

A marker, buoy and boom will be used to mark the security zone.

The Coast Guard said it will enforce the temporary security zone from 6 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Jan. 6 unless told otherwise by the captain of Honolulu Port.
